Hi guys,
Just thought I should update for those that helped me through with answers to all me silly questions...
Well, had an appt with my consultant on 19.12 but woke up that morning with contractions. Completely unexpected as had been symptom spitting and hadn't noticed anything. Went to my cons appt and she checked and said I was only 1cm but I was to go straight to Hosp as my BP was through the roof.
Was admitted to hospital where contractions and BP continued to ramp up.
Doc checked again at 12 noon on thursaday 20.12 and was still only 3cm much to my disappointment!
By 5 o'clock the pain in my back (baby was back to back) was crippling. I couldn't stand, sit, lie - ANYTHING. by this point I was asking for something stronger than paracetamol. At 6, they gave in and took me to delivery to give me an epidural. They put in the catheter thing but then he got called away to an emergency on the ward leaving me looking longingly an the pump thing that he was about to attach!!
Anyway, between 6pm and 8.37pm I managed to get from 3cm to birthBloody hell, he takes after you. Just changed another nappy and he pood another 3 times while I was cleaning and welcomed my little baby boy into the world! :-D
The following day he got a little poorly and wasn't eating. He was jittery (the term the docs used) so he was taken to neo where they did a lumbar puncture, blood cultures and started him on antibiotics.
We had to stay in a week (right over Christmas) but finally when he was a week old, we were allowed to bring him home.
So now the fun really starts....
