How long after your baby dropped down...

Did you go into labor?
On christmas day i was in quite a lot of pain and very uncomfortable. When i woke up the next morning the baby was a good 3/4 inches lower maybe an inch above my belly button.
Im just curious is this a sign of impending labor or is it totally normal at this stage (33 weeks)
my mother had all of us early i was 35 weeks, db was 27 weeks, ds was 37 weeks.
Am i just being a neurotic pregnant lady

I was 4/5 to completely engaged for just over 4 weeks. Some people find the baby engages & disengages too, though this is more common in subsequent babies. It's a sign that things are moving closer, but as with many such signs, eg more back ache, the show (mucous plug coming out), a little dilation of cervix, increased Braxton Hicks etc, it doesn't necessarily mean labour & birth are imminent. So, don't worry too much & if you have any concerns, especially if you think things are kicking off, speak to a midwife & get it checked out. Also, perhaps it may help you feel more reassured to pack your hospital bag now (good whether you're planning a hospital/birth centre or a home birth), in case little one puts in an early appearance.

I don't expect imminent labor just wondering how long people go after baby engages.
I have an app with my mw next week so im sure she will just tell me all is well and progressing normally which is what she usually says.

Midwife advised me at 36 weeks to be expecting DD2s arrival imminently as 'she didn't know how she was staying in there'....

Little madam seemed to manage it for another SIX weeks

Like PMmummy this one (DC3) has been 'ready to come out' for weeks (dropped about 33 weeks) according to midwife.
I'm now 39 weeks and my tummy is so low down its practically on the floor! (Other DC were born at 37 and 38 so not used to being this pregnant )

Was engaged (and getting uncomfortable heaviness in the pelvic) at 34 weeks. Baby arrived 40+5!!
At least I was never very breathless!

about 24min before birth. She went from 5cm and still high to whoooosh.
Last time I engaged at 32 weeks and gave birth at 42 weeks.
