What is likely to happen?

I am 32wks + 6.
On fri night i was seriously dizzy and felt sick. Thought i was going to pass out so i put myself to bed to try sleep it off. The next day i still did not feel right so i went and got checked out. Had high bp and sugar in my urine. I have had spots in my eyesight and well as the dizzyness for a couple of wks and thought it was just a bug but the mw sent me straight to the hospital incase of pre-ec. It turned out the blood results were fine but when i was being monitored i had strong contractions for an hour or so every 10 min. I was given x2 steroid injections incase of labour. I was alo given an internal and the mid wife said i was 'soft' she could only insert 1 finger (plse exscuse details lol) I was told i should stay in incase i went into labour.
The contractions stoped it was not until the next morning i had them for an hour again every 10 min. They let me go home yesturday and i have slept and rested all day. I have had bh today nothing like i was experienceing before but obviously i am a little restless with everything going on.
has anyone else had the same thing/experience off this? I am worried i will go early or do you think i will last? What does it mean by being 'soft'? I know i should have asked but it was all such a dsaze!

I had a friend who went through the same thing - on/off contractions, went into hospital on a couple of occasions, each time was sent home with paracetemol! In the end, she went two weeks overdue, so it might not be an indicator of things starting early. Then again, you never know, everyone's different... Sorry not to be more definite. I've got an eight-month-old now and think back wistfully to the days when I was all impatient for the baby to come. I should have caught up on my sleep when I had the chance! Good luck

Thanks for the reply, just finding this all surreal as this is my second baby and never once did i hae any of this with my first. I have had a terrible few wks though because my mum died suddenly and still in shock. Maybe this has not helped with how things are now.

The stress of my mothers death was a trigger for early labour for me (35 weeks). Being 'soft' means the cervix is ready to dilate (but hasn't yet) - it doesn't necessarily mean that it will dilate soon - but more an indicator that it could. So yes, you are at risk for early labour, but it is NOT inevitable and there's not much you can do but try and stay as relaxed as possible and don't worry too much. 33 weekers will usually fare very well these days and the steroid injections will have helped the lungs mature, but obviously the longer you last the better.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Dunnyjo. You must try to get as much rest as you can, whether that's possible or not with another little 'un around, I don't know. Do take care.

Thanks for replys, i know if it does happen early then hopefull everything will be fine with the baby. I was born at 26wks and turned out fine and that was in 1981 so i am sure with todays equipment it would be even beter. (also the fact i am 32wks) I am taking it easy as i can. With this going on its help me keep my head busy! Just got back from a wks holiday in cormawal with my family which was very emotional but nice to be with my dad.
Just feels like life has just thrown everything at me all at once, sometimes i wish i could have been pregnant later on if you know what i mean, trying to deal with it all with these hormones too is madness on the head but then again i dont know what kind of state i would have let myself get into without having my son and new baby to think of.

I am now 38 + 3 but at 32 weeks +2 had sharp pains and went to see my GP who had me admitted to hospital. Like you they told me that my cervix admitted a finger and whilst on the monitoring machine I was having contractions. It was very scary and unexpected so I know exactly how you are feeling. I was in hospital for 2 days and then I signed myself off work for a week of bedrest and changed my maternity leave to start a bit earlier (36 weeks instead of 38) that seemed to do the trick because I'm still here now wishing the baby would hurry up and come out!!! Resting and slowing down a bit worked for me, try not to worry you will be fine
