delivering the placenta

this might sound really stupid but can you tear just from delivering the placenta or is it only from delivering the actualy baby that you would tear from?

not sure,but i didnt even feel the placenta coming out,my midwifes hand stopped me tearing when delivering ds

i don't see how you could tear the vagina from delivering the placenta; the placenta is squishy (unlike baby's big head) rarely more than 1kg, usually about half that weight, and that's with a full term 3-4 kg baby.

I'd have thought any tear would have already happened with delivery of the baby.
