Contractions have stopped!!

40+2 with dc2. Last night contractions started at 10pm and were regular every 5 mins. Painful but manageable with TENS and Paracetamol then at 6 am this morning they abruptly stopped and have had nothing since. Have tried to just rest today as obviously was very tired and was hoping they'd start again tonight but nothing.
Waters haven't broken. Ds1 waters broke first and very quick 6 hour labour so I think i was expecting the same this time naively.
Does anyone have any experience of this or any advice? Have a sweep booked for Thursday.

have sex, sperm can help soften cervix and if you are lucky enough to have an orgasm it can help start contractions. you can do this anytime safely as long as waters are not broken

Think that's what started things yesterday! Dh seems to have picked up winter vomiting bug and is fast asleep tonight so I'm keeping my distance tonight. Oh well there's always tomorrow

Hopefully you're in bed by now, but if you see this, don't worry and get some good rest. When you've already got children, your body will often halt labour during the day as you feel you've got parenting duties to attend to. Maybe you'll wake up later tonight with the contractions back with a vengeance. Or it could be that the timing just isn't right - perhaps you're body is fighting something off so it's wisely chosen actually labouring at same time would be a lot to have to cope with. Hope things happen for you soon and with perfect timing for you and your little one!

Clearly your body is in a labourish state. You know you can do it. It will happen. You probably don't even need that sweep. its quite normal to have several episodes of contractions like this before major action. And then it will be done.

Boo still nothing since early hours of Wednesday morning just back to normal except lots (and I mean lots!) of mucous. Oh well surely cant be far away now
