My lovely friend has today given birth to a beautiful bouncing eye-watering baby boy of 11lb13oz... I previously held the title with a solid 9lb2oz baby

though technically I still kinda retain some record, as my DS was delivered naturally (Tens plus Gas & Air) whereas my poor friend had to have a C Section as it just wasn't happening

Anyone else had little whoppers larger babies? Are the subsequent siblings actually BIGGER???

Ooooh not quite but nearly. DD was 10lb 10oz.

Not bigger but my ds1 was 10lb 1oz, born unexpectedly at home with a whiff of gas and air. I was 22 and it nearly killed me!

DS was 9lb and I had him naturally with no pain relief. DD, born less than 2 years later was 7lb1oz!! Couldn't believe it. She hurt more though. My second labour was less than an hour.

Oh and no my next two were smaller but earlier.

DS2 was 10lb 1oz and born naturally with just G&A.
DD (DC3) wasn't bigger thankfully, 9lb 3oz. (No G&A tho )

So a faster labour hurts more than a bigger baby?

DS was 11lb 7oz.

I attempted a homebirth with a pool and G&A but sadly he wouldn't bloody move, so I got a spinal and the salad tongs.

DD1 was 9lbs 4oz. It hurt a lot. And took forever.
DD2 was 10lbs 2oz. It hurt less and was much quicker.

My girls are considered tiddlers by DH's family.

My SiL had a 10lbs 6oz baby boy at home with no G&A or anything.

My other SiL had a 12lbs 7oz baby by c-section. Off duty midwives came in to gawp at him.

I think you can have anything you want after birthing a baby that size.

I thought 8lb 3 oz Ds was big enough! (I am 5'1 size 10)

DD was 10lb 4oz natural delivery with gas and air took 3 hours to arrive and had 2 stitchs now pregnant again and due in April, I've been put under consultant led care because of the size of her as a first pregnancy. My family does big babies though my little brother was 13lb,

My friend many years ago when she was only 17 had a ds of 13lb 2 with no pain relief at all (bar gas and air for the stiches).

She was amazing just wandered around and breathed him out, afterards she just said her legs hurt

DS - 11lbs 14oz, didn't know he'd be so big so didn't even consider a CS.

Much easier birth than DD who was 8lbs 4oz.

Lots of admiration from MWs (who seemed to forget it is often easier to birth a bigger baby!) really got me through the hormone crash of the first few days!

Ds1 was 12lb 4oz, c-section due to presentation.

Ds2 was 9lb 14oz,forceps. I think of him as my little one!

10lb 5oz with enough epidural to stun a herd of elephants.

Just as well because I had more stitches than the Bayeux (sp) tapestry

DC1 was 8lb 11oz, back to back, induced 13 days late, 39 hours, epidural, epesiotomy and ventouse

DC2 was 8lb 9oz, back to back, natural labour 8 days late, 26 hours and epidural (and lots of tearing)

DC3 was 9lb 4oz, back to back, 10 days late, natural labour, 15 hours and paracetamol (and some tearing, but you can't have everything....)

IME they get bigger, but better....!

It is often much easier to birth a bigger baby and not more painful in any proven or demonstrable way.

But if it's a competition you're after...

I had a 7lbs 12oz dd who I couldn't fit through my pelvis, 31hr labour including an 8hr second stage, every intervention going and emcs.

Then a 6lbs 13oz ds who I still couldn't fit through my pelvis and had an emcs after 38hrs.

So I get the 'shit at childbirth' crown surely?

Isee - I am also shit at childbirth but have babies with very large heads, a very tall husband and I am a mere 5ft.

Friend's baby was 10lb15 on g+a and tens - no time for epi as she was at MLU.

Imminent childbirth holds far less fear for me knowing she came through relatively unscathed back in her size 10s within 3 months without even trying :o
