Raspberry leaf tablets banned by EU??

My husband went to our local health shop today to get some raspberry leaf tablets. When he asked the owner for them, he was told that Brussels had banned them in January and it was now illegal for him to buy them. Anyone heard anything about that? Like why?

Can still get them on Amazon, so don't know if that is just old stock.

Thanks for your replies ladies. That's very odd that our healthshop said that if H&B still stock them instore.

According to my herbalist yes the EU has taken a load of herbal stuff off the market. So when the stocks run out that's it folks.
Unless our politicians listen to what women want & get the ban reversed.

My EU scientist nerd husband says that lots of herbal stuff has been taken off the market because they were found to contain irradiated ingredients which have very strict regulations surrounding their sale for human consumption, which are not being followed in the case of these remedies.

Irradiation? But loads of foods use that as a form of food preservation. My dad was one of the researchers into irradiation.

Tho if the herbal market is not regulated I can see how unscrupulous companies could put non effective/ wrong ingredients in. But there are lots of good companies producing worthwhile products. How to keep them going should be the target I reckon.

Unless you reckon herbal is a load of rubbish, in which case you will say good riddance!
