not sure if this is the right place to post or not.
Posting for SIL who's just had a baby, was an emcs last tues.
i saw her today and she says that she's in a bit more pain than yesterday (only came home from hospital yesterday due to complication with blood pressure (hers)) and that it feels numb just above her scar. she asked if that was normal and i didnt know as cant really remember if i felt any numbness after my emcs 6 years ago, so i said id come on here and ask.
She's seeing the midwife again 2moro but i thought id still ask in case i got any replies 2nite.
thanks

Yup completely normal. Particularly above the scar. The nerve endings take a bit of a battering. Sensation does return though not completely for some women.

TheHappyCamper · 15/10/2012 19:17

Normal I think. Actually mine is still a tiny bit numb above the scar 3 1/2 years later!

SoozleQ · 15/10/2012 19:27

Totally normal. I don't think I've recovered full sensation 2 years on - at least I don't think it feels the same as it used to. You get used to it though!

Wolfcub · 15/10/2012 19:28

Totally normal

Pourquoimoi · 15/10/2012 19:31

Yep, normal. Mine is still numb and DS2 is 8.5yrs old!

Pamsie · 15/10/2012 19:32

Normal. Mine is still numb 13 months after c-section.

Susieloo · 15/10/2012 19:33

Normal, ds is 3 months and parts of mine are still numb and I think they always will be.

I saw my GP about this the other day as my scar is still tender in some places and numb in others. She said its because the nerves have been severed and don't always regrow in the same place, if that makes sense. DD is 10mo.

Meglet · 15/10/2012 19:57

Normal IME. In 6 years I've had an EMCS, planned CS and a hysterectomy and that scar line area is probably numb forever. Scars almost faded though.

thanks can now reassure her Smile
