Have my waters gone/going - is this it? What do I do re DP?

Okay, so went for a wee a little while ago. Got back into bed a bit bleary eyed and returned to a dozy kind of dream state. I was kind of aware of a little gush, only a little one, and when I came to a bit more my pants were wet and there are two patches of wetness on the bed. Went to the loo where there was a bit more of a trickle that I'm not sure was wee.

With DD, my waters went in a big explosion - like someone had just chuckled a bucket of water on the bathroom floor do this is different. But she was breech so nothing was engaged whereas here I hope the head is engaged. Contractions started straight away with her but very mildly and I wa fully dilated within 2 - 3 hours but with her being breech it was CSection time.

I'm booked in for A home birth this thin but totally not ready. House is a state dye to extension and new kitchen. It needs a damn good clean, still need to wash baby clothes etc. DP will be working about 40 - 50 minutes away today - do I send him in or do I keep him here just in case? A day off now, if not needed, will be one less when baby is here.

Currently 38+6 and woefully unprepared!

sounds like your waters have gone,op. er, i would keep dp close Smile
exciting though! you'll soon have your lil baby xx

cupcake78 · 10/10/2012 07:07

I experienced a continuous dribble. If the liquid doesn't smell of urine it's probably your waters Grin congratulations. Speak to a midwife.

shushpenfold · 10/10/2012 07:11

Agree - sounds like waters to me.....have had the gush and the dribble! Agree about midwife and yes, call DP as he can clean the house!!!

weezl74 · 10/10/2012 07:47

if you feel you aren't sure where to start, just handwash one baby outfit and pop it on a radiator and Hoover the room you'll labour in. everything else will fall into place after the baby comes if today is the day. all the best and good luck :)

SoozleQ · 10/10/2012 08:08

Weezl74, I think I love you. That sounds so much more manageable than the list of stuff I have in my head to do!

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I posted a thread, which is a bit further down - 'Have my waters gone or have I pissed myself'. Had a definite gush with the first bit then a couple of trickles. Although nothing since or overnight. Felt a bit crampy before bed, but now fine. So not really sure what to think. If I lose any more then I think I'll call midwife but if not then I'll hang on and mention it in my routine appointment appt tomorrow morning. Baby moving ok etc. Beginning to think maybe it was wee Blush.

chipsandmushypeas · 10/10/2012 08:25

Good luck !

SoozleQ · 10/10/2012 08:31

Apologies for the following tmi - had a couple of, ahem, bowel evacuations now - that's a sigh as well, isn't it? Also think I've just had a couple of contractions, unless I've just got a dicky tummy and the pains were to do with pooing!

DP has set off for work - think indeed to call him back....

Quick update - lying here with baby Ariane asleep on my chest Smile

Things happened really quickly after posting. I was booked in for a home VBAC due to previous bad experience at hospital. Contractions started at about 8.15, called DP back home. He got there just before the midwife at about 9.15. By the time the midwife examined me at about 9.30, I was fully dilated and started pushing about 20 mins after just as the second midwife arrived. Pushed for a while but she was in a bit of an odd position and clearly wasn't descending at all. She started to have a few decelerations, nothing disastrous but I was happy to transfer in at that stage. Blue lights transfer I'm sure got the neighbours talking but once at hospital ended up with a spinal and forceps. She was out in 3 pushes with the forceps at 11.52 this morning Smile

All good, I have no regrets or issues with how things went. I could feel the all my pushing was getting her nowhere and the poor little thing has got a properly bruised head where it was being pushed against me, never mind the forceps marks Sad

So, other than really not wanting to find out how horribly my downstairs region has been destroyed and having to spend a night in hospital, it's all fab Smile

Ariane is a lovely name, I bet she's gorgeous.

Oh wow that did happen quickly - massive congratulations!

Well I've not had any more leakage so thinking maybe it was wee yesterday Blush. No twinges either. Not feeling too desperate yet but hope I'm not kept waiting too long.
