Should I ask to be induced?

Feeling really weepy and fed up this morning. Maybe just hormonal and overtired.

I'm 38 weeks, and on and off in agony with SPD. Can't go far because of it. I feel sick as a dog with heartburn, and having loads of sleepless nights due to both the above.

Also got 2 DDs - one 8 yrs and one 22 months.

AIBU and should I just wait it out?

(BTW actually a bit scared of induction due to the sudden onset of pain last time, which was also VBAC.)

You should discuss the option of being induced with your midwife- as she'd be able to tell you the pros/cons/whether its a good idea/even possible etc.

I doubt you'd be induced for what sounds like fairly standard late preg issues.
Maybe MW can offer a sweep to get things going instead.

Get yourself some Zantac for the heartburn. I took it without presecription at the end of my first pregnancy - only thing that kept me sane as the HB was hideous, hideous, hideous. Been presribed this time so that helps enormously and has really improved being pregnant!

I also have mobility limiting SPD so i know your pain very well.

clearly not advocating taking meds in pregnancy. Just works for me.

FWIW. my current prescribed zantac is 150mg twice a day.

The Zantac you buy is 75mg per tab.

Sorry to hear you're feeling uncomfortable and miserable - I'm 39+3 and feeling very much the same, I sympathise!

I think given that you're experiencing what pretty much all heavily pregnant women are, it's unlikely they'll induce you, but do discuss it with your MW when you see her because there may be things they can do to make you more comfortable for the time being.

Thanks for replies. Feeling a bit more positive this aft. I don't really want to be induced as it was horrible last time.

I didnt think they induced VBACs because of the increased risk of scar rupture?

Inductions have real risks and should only be done in certain medical circumstances when the only alternative is even riskier.

I was induced last time and been told if I go so far over they will this time. Can't remember how long they said.
