OP

I'm 41w with second not yet engaged and reading the spinning babies website panicked me somewhat so this thread has been v reassuring! So I'm not blaming myself that the reason the baby isn't engaged is not because of anything I've done or not done and an op position is not necessarily a bad thing, although it could lead to a long labour. And anyway I'm jumping to too many conclusions!

Very interesting article, thanks. DD was born OP (with local anaesthetic, ventouse and episiotomy) and I'm currently 37w pg with DC2. I've been keen to avoid another OP delivery (and DH even more so, as I think he remembers DD's birth more clearly than I do, and was more aware at the time of the potential danger to DD and I when labour wasn't progressing as it should). Really interesting to hear a different, more positive, perspective on it all.

And good luck to you Twixed. Can't be long now :)

My PFB was born the 'right' way round.

A fortnight ago I had DC2 who turned out to be OP but no one realised until she appeared! I honestly didn't realise what a big deal having an OP baby is, and in a way I'm glad. I think that sometimes knowing too much can freak us out at such moments.

I had a 6 hour labour, including 45 mins of pushing, and did it all with gas&air as pain relief. My 2nd labour was half the length as the first and honestly I found them both as painful and used just gas & air for them both. DC2 weighed 9lb 1oz.

OP, you will be fine! Think positive, let gravity be your friend during labour and just focus on getting you LO out! :)

Think positive! My LO was OP, it was bloody painful, but G&A/water and then morphine helped. Plus the whole thing only lasted 14 hours (water's breaking to baby appearing) and I only pushed for about 10 minutes. It can be done :)

Good luck!
