Sweep today and 2cm what are the chances???

Hi ladies just been to see my consultant as I'm nearly 38 weeks and have been having growth scans due to previous small babies, agreed to have a sweep and she says im 2cm dilated - is this just normal as this is my 3rd baby or a sign labour is on its way? Got an induction booked for a weeks time if nothing happens just wondering what the chances are of it happening tonight/ tomorrow etc??? X

Well, I had a vigorous sweep on Monday (38 weeks with DC3 as well) and then acupuncture in the evening and nada to date! I'm severely asthmatic and this past 6 weeks have been totally hellacious for me (nebulizer 3 x day/oral steroids) so the sweep is for me not baby, who is measuring completely fine (though I hear you on the growth scans - we had lots of those with DC1, who also turned out completely fine....)

Anyway, end result is that I'm now: soft, 85% effaced, 1cm dilated and lost mucus plug (since Monday) but still no baby. Will be doing more acupuncture today.

This is totally just my experience; I'm sure others will be along in a minute to say they had a sweep and went into labour immediately!
