DIY Birthstool, any ideas??

Had DS at home which was lovely, now expecting another baby 12 weeks, discovered I didn't really like the pool first time round and instead found it much more comfortable on the loo and could have given birth there if it wasn't for DH pleading with me to not have our son on the toilet, very off putting!

I'm interested in the whole birthing stool thing, I've googled and can't find much on it, wondered whether anyone else had much luck with a home bodged version?

what about a commode chair - some of these have height adjustable legs

I think you've solved your own problem here. The domestic birthing stool, better known as your loo?..what else was designed specifically for your pelvic easing comfort? Your partner needs to know that midwives have often used these to assist progress in second stage. A domestic loo is a hygienic environment and I've never lost one down the pan yet. What i do is ask the mother to stand as the head gets close to crowning and deliver from the front or, if there is room, kneel forward on the floor and get behind her to catch junior.

However, second babies often progress to the exit much faster. You might find any comfortable position will do.
