Just curious really!

I've got a few questions to ask them and want to make sure they are aware of some aspects of my birth plan but not sure what they need to do. Assume they'll tell me when I need to get there and what I can and can't eat and drink before hand but will they need to take blood or anything else?

Also, do you think they'll do a sweep while I'm there? Still hoping I might start naturally before mon so wouLdn't hurt to give it a go!

Hi Kaymondo - I'm having an ELCS on Mon too! My pre op appt was today. Baby is breech so that's the reason for mine. Basically I had the usual tests - urine, fundal length, blood pressure, listened to heartbeat. Then bump was felt to check if still breech. She is, so I met with the consultant and then the anaesthetist who both ran me through what to expect with regards to the procedure itself. Had some bloods taken and swabs done for MRSA and had to sign the consent form ready for Monday.

I didn't have a sweep but then I wouldn't have expected one due to the position of my baby and the reason for my section.

Midwife went through a lot of medical background and I was given some info to read through with regards to what to expect, how I should feel, aftercare etc. I was given some pre meds to take on Sun night and Mon morning - basically ones to neutralise stomach contents and some anti sickness tablets.

They then took my maternity notes off me to save me needing to remember on Monday morning!

It was a very in depth appt, I was there for an hour and a half and it was really good to meet the consultant and anaesthetist before Monday.

HTH - Wishing you all the best for Mon!
