I can't help with this as on first pregnancy and no idea what to expect! Good luck either way! :) x

Notgrownupinmyhead · 23/08/2012 16:22

Exciting!! Ring the Maternity Ward and go and get checked over, you'll not be wasting anyones time. It sounds like they have if you've been leaking for that long.

Im waiting/willing mine to go.

Good luck!!

JollyHockeyStick · 23/08/2012 16:23

Make sure you pop a pad in to catch it. Mw might be interested to look at it to make sure it is waters.

Frontpaw · 23/08/2012 16:31

I felt as if I had peed myself with absolutely no control! Ooooo very exciting! How many weeks are you?

Have a little sniff to make sure its not wee. It won't smell if it's your waters! Call your maternity ward to tell them - they will remind you what to domre contractions etc. mine started very soon after (less than half an hour I think) but it can mpbe much longer.

Get some rest - your life is about to change in the most wonderful and amazing way!

Keep calm, keep chilled...

sittinginthesun · 23/08/2012 16:36

My second started like that. Do you have any tightenings yet?

Badgerina · 23/08/2012 16:41

Mine started like that with DS1 at 9am then string cx came later that night. Get checked out, stay active (potter around the house NOT hugely active!) and make sure you get some rest.

Exciting :)

Frontpaw · 23/08/2012 16:43

Mine started at Newsnight and baby was around for breakfast!

Sparklesandglitter · 23/08/2012 16:46

Had a bath and still leaking so pretty sure it's my waters! I have rang the hospital and they said to pop in and get checked. Not contractions/tightening as yet so not panicking! Going to head over in a bit, the midwife was not concerned, I'm full term any way Grin exciting times!!!

Is your bag packed? Make sure you take food and something to entertain yourself with (music, crosswords, magazines...). And a pillow. They are like bricks in hospital!!!

oscarwilde · 23/08/2012 16:51

Based on my experience, it sounds like your waters - still leaking as though you are slightly incontinent? Put a pad in, check the smell but more importantly the colour. It should be clear or v close to clear.
You do need to speak to your midwife to confirm that they have broken and assuming you are close to the hospital they will want you to come in and be checked. There's no panic to get there (unless your waters are green, brownish or bloody) but they will effectively start the clock. After 48 hrs if you are not in labour they may talk about inducing you as the risk of infection starts to rise (for that reason they will minimise internal exams for now).

That's it really - mine went around 5.30am, I got to the hospital around 12 and sent off to amuse myself until contractions were sub 3 mins apart, 1 min long if memory serves. Was back in the hospital around 6am I think. I don't recommend making it a very busy day. Mine went at 39 weeks and I was totally disorganised. Ran around like a loon all day and was shattered by the time active labour actually started around 8pm. Didn't really set myself up for an easy time of it !

Frontpaw · 23/08/2012 16:54

Oh yes, minimal exams, as they start mumbling about inducing labour after 48 hours due to 'minimising infection' but any infection is mreo than likely to be due to examinations!

Try to relax and keep chilled. Maybe pop on a film and put your feet up, make a cake, do the ironing.....

Sparklesandglitter · 23/08/2012 17:17

Still at home as the ceiling is currently being plastered! It is clear with a bit of discharge (had a show today so I guess it's just that) still no contractions but not impressed with the leaking, I feel like an old lady!Smile

Beware sending your husband out to buy pads. Not sure what mine was expecting but I still have about half a dozen unopened panic bought. God knows what they thought in Mothercare!

Sparklesandglitter · 23/08/2012 20:40

Well I went to hospital and, as thought, they have sent me home until my contractions get worse. The reality is kicking in now!
