Recent C-Section...Swelling, or (stuck with an) Overhang?

Hello!
I had my second section 6 weeks ago. All went brilliantly & I found recovery so much easier than first time around. I was up & mobile afterwards & was really pleased how good I felt. However...6 weeks on the area directly above my incision (and the same length of the scar) is swollen & protrudes...so much so you can see it through jeans. It's almost impossible to see the line of the incision itself without 'lifting up' this roll! Please any other mums out there who know will this go down over time or is this what I'm left with and is referred to as the (dreaded) 'overhang'?????????
Thanks x

Overhang isn't uncommon :(

Its hard to say without knowing your height&weight, and pregnancy weight gain. It could be swelling. My swelling didn't start to subside until week 6 and now, 4 months later, I still have a 'puff' about the far right hand side. It isn't noticeable through undies and clothes, though.

Btw, I'm 5'8, was 9st4 Pre-preg. Went up to 10st8 and am now 9st7.

Have you had your 6wk check yet? Might be good to do some tummy/core strength exercise

Hi, it could be swollenfrom you movingaround too much!

My healing area got bad again dueto me doing too much excersizing, as for overhang, sorry but I think that's normal and you were lucky not to have it first time.
My scar can't be seen while upright without lifting the hang (ew) and I'm normal weight,
sorry!!

ah thanks girls...I think I'm stuck with it. After 6weeks it's still there, despite my stomach being pretty flat again! I was 9stone before & gained 2stone with each pregnancy. It is just very depressing at the mo as you can see through my jeans a "bulge" ... and that's denim...who knows what it'll be like with thinner cotton trousers, or tight fitting dresses. May have to say goodbye to a lot of my wardrobe & raid my husbands! :-(
at least my baby is perfect, even if i'm not! lol

If you lose weight it will go. It's entirely up to you whether you choose to try to lose your weight gain or not, but I thought I was stuck with my mum tum but having lost over two stone it has gone.

I think 6 weeks is too soon to say. I've had one CS (5 months ago) and I started off with an overhang but have now lost 1.5 stone and it's gone. Try some tummy exercises - your tummy may be pretty flat again, but the muscles won't be back to normal yet.
