If you were overdue and induced the last time...

...what happened the next time?

I went 14 days over, no sign of budging and I was wondering if this makes it more likely in future.

I was 15 days overwith DS - failed induction resulting in EMCS. With DD, I had a couple of sessions of acupuncture in the last cuople of weeks and she arrived on her own at +14 days. I don't know if it was the acupuncture that did it - but I'd do it again.

I think some people just take longer to bake em - my DM was 2-4 weeks late with all of us as well....

Hi Newly.
I went 40 + 10 with both DSs. Was induced with pessary, then had straightforward natural deliveries.
Currently overdue with DC3, either 40+7 or 40 +3 depending on which dates you go on-due for induction on Friday, but might postpone it for a few more days to see what happens!

MammyToMany · 15/08/2012 11:52

I was over due and induced with ds1 and 2 but ds3 came naturally at 40+3

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 15/08/2012 11:54

I was 15, 13 and 14 days over with my dc's. I refused induction after the first time as I have a longer cycle (35 days) so was therefore not as overdue by my calculations.

ElephantsCanRemember · 15/08/2012 11:55

I was 15 days over with DS (though induction was started at 12days overdue) bang on due date with DD and 2 days late with DS2.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 15/08/2012 11:55

( I don't count DC4 as he was just awkward Grin)

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 15/08/2012 12:01

I was overdue with all three of mine although DS2 (middle child) was the only one who was induced (at +10) because they concerned that my placenta was deteriorating prematurely. He was actually the smallest of the bunch, so maybe they were right to be concerned.

DD was born 40+11. Midwives did sweeps at 40+7 and 40+10, but I don't know if they had any effect tbh. I was tentatively due to be induced at 40+14 but I'm quite glad I avoided it.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 15/08/2012 12:01

Oh, that wasn't clear was it Blush DD was the one after DS2.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 15/08/2012 12:05

All three were two weeks overdue. First two induced labours. Third came somewhat quickly 2 days after a vigorous sweep and the day before I was due yet another induced labour.

Davinaaddict · 15/08/2012 13:51

I was induced at 40+15 when they broke my waters. It was horrible and ended up in a CS. I refused induction with DC2 who was born naturally at 40+19. I obviously just bake for longer Grin

Piccalilli2 · 15/08/2012 15:03

40 +16 with dd1, 40 +15 with dd2. Both induced although i was actually in very early labour when they finally induced dd2

NewlyMintedPeasant · 15/08/2012 15:45

I'm amazed at some of these dates! My hospital induces at +10, I practically had to go into hiding to go +14 colcluding with a midwife. The consultant tried to say I couldn't leave to go and get stuff from home when I had an appt at +13 (I did, quite calmly but she popped up on the ward later to check I'd really turned up)

I was induced at seven days late, as my bp was high. Second baby I quite wanted him to be late, as due date at very end of august so he is youngest in school year. But he was only one day late in the end, came of his own accord.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 15/08/2012 16:23

NMP My hospital would have allowed me to go over 14 days as long as I went in for daily observations and nothing seemed iffy. Given that I was booked into a hospital a good hours journey from where I lived, and had a Nursery and School run to do, that really wasn't feasible for me, but the willingness was there.

Murtette · 16/08/2012 19:58

DD - induced at 40+13. Had pessary, then waters broken, then drip & finally had DD by forceps whilst being prepped for a c-section 38 hours after the induction process started.

DS - natural birth at 40+10. Less than two hours from first twinge to birth. Got to hospital with 30 mins to spare. Had some G&A but only took two pushes for DS to be born. Was in shock afterwards - shaking, hot & cold, vomiting etc.

mamto4 · 17/08/2012 15:05

My first was induced at 13 days overdue, second was 3 days overdue but I started myself and I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and hoping I might go a lil bit early this time or even just on time lol! But I think Im just 1 of these people who need to bake them a lil bit longer!!

thing1andthing2 · 17/08/2012 20:13

I had dd naturally (not induced) at 14 days over, and ds came on his due date.

IwishIwasinLondon · 17/08/2012 20:14

I was induced at 42 +5 with ds1, ds2 arrived with little warning on his edd!
