eek, Im 39+5 with my first baby and for the past to days Ive had what I know now have been early labour, tonight about 5 ish I statrted to get regular contractions, lasting about 1-2 mins every 15 mins now. loads of show coming away ( didnt realise it was quite so yucky).

Im terrified, phoned hospital to come in when cant cope with pain.

I cant stay out of the loo. Husband is trying to stay clam.

such a weird feeling ,

Wow!
How exciting!
Sit down and relax if you can.
You can take paracetamol if the contractions get sore early on.
You could try sitting on a birth ball (if you have one) or get dh to give you a massage?
Would nice bath help calm you?
Ooohhhh....am so excited for you!
:)

WhispersOfWickedness · 14/08/2012 21:57

Good luck Grin

feels a bit weird being on here, but its a good distraction.

H is running me a bath just now, Ive been under the shower a lot but its difficult to keep standing during a contraction.

Hope it all goes really well Smile try and get some rest tonight in case it's a long one, since it's your first baby Smile
Come back and update us Grin

Just do what your body tells you...you may not like a bath/massage etc but give them a try.
I sat on a birth ball with my first and watched tv (the last ever episode of buddy the vampire slayer was on!!)
I went into hospital and I was already 6 cms!! :)
Maybe an energy snack? Something bland though!

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 14/08/2012 22:15

How exciting I remember it like yesterday was nearly 7 years ago good luck OP hope it all goes smoothly Grin

blueberryboybait · 14/08/2012 22:27

I know this may sound weird but I found sitting on the (open) loo really helpful when my legs wouldn't carry me during a contraction. Relieved the pressure off my lower back and helped things feel like they were opening up.

Small bites of energy snacks, dim lights and try and rest between contractions.

Aww, good luck Florry.

blueberryboybait · 14/08/2012 22:31

Give the hospital a ring - how far apart are the contractions?

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 14/08/2012 22:35

Yes, agree you should ring hospital
Just focus kn your breathing as it will help you to stay calm.
I was sick throughout my entire 32 hr labour. It is horrible isn't it Sad i ended up pretty dehydrated because of it, white flaky. Keep sucking ice cubes if you can't stomach water
Good luck!
