Lying on side post c-section?

Had ELCS 4 days ago. While obviously thoroughly enjoying sleeping on my back for first time in months :) I am getting a numb coccyx from spending a lot of time sitting/lying on it. I have tried rolling onto my side but it makes my stitches pull and burn, and my uterus falls to one side and feels heavy and sore.
Anyone know if this sounds normal, and when it will improve? Uterus still pretty big as post triplets, so midwife has said it will take longer to get smaller. Thanks

Hi baileyslover I was about two weeks after my ELCS before I could lie on my side again. If you are managing to lie down after 4 days you are doing better than I did! At about four days I was still in hospital and they had put me in a lying down position (at my request) to feed dd but I just couldn't get up again, took me ages! Might be worth propping yourself up on pillows on your side for a short time just to give your coccyx a rest.

Congrats on the triplets xx

After twins I had a thin pillow that I used to hold on my stomach as I rolled over so it was supporting my belly off the mattress (so underneath the flab lol) I have 2 sets of twins so 2nd time was the ultimate twin twin belly!!!

Congrats on the triplets :-)

I had to get onto my side ASAP as being stuck on my back caused an agonising flare up of sciatica. I used a row of pillows under my tum and between my knees. It was very painful and diffiult to get into position but with tons of support it was blessed relief when I managed it after about 2days.

I second using a pillow to prop up your overhanging bit.

I also please a pillow just under one hip so I was sort of tilted but I didn't get fully on my side u til I had my staples out. And it was instant as soon as they were out.

My v pillow was great too for going between my knees and supporting my tummy at the same time.

It took me ages too - pillow between knees, another to support flabby belly and one behind my back helped.

I stuck with lying on my back for quite a while post c-section. It took ages to feel comfortable on my side and even longer to go back to my front.

Plenty of pillows. At least one to rest your tummy on, and also something between your knees. And roll veeeeery slowly when you are getting into that position!

Thatvwas the ONLY thing that bugged me after a CS! I was walking miles, semi-lifting DS1..... But lying on my side was rightly uncomfortable.

It went after about 4 weeks
