Im 34+4 and over the past 4 or 5 days I've been having a lot of menstrual like cramping in my lower abdomen and back which gets very intense at times. This is also teamed with a lot of pelvic pressure when i stand up or when I'm sitting on the toilet(TMI sorry). This is my first pregnancy and I don't think I've experienced BH yet as apparently they are like a tightening and your belly goes extremely hard, but I don't remember feeling that? I have my midwife in the morning so will ask her then just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I have noticed my bump has dropped a lot recently and wonder if maybe I'm starting to dilate/efface. Should I ask MW to check tomorrow? I don't want to call the hospital MW's as I was admitted a few weeks ago with suspected preterm labour, but it just turned out to be a UTI and I felt pretty silly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

P.s already posted this on the pregnancy forum but no replies as of yet. x

Is there any regularity to the cramping? Definitely discuss with your MW tomorrow, but tbh it might even be worth calling her today to check what she thinks.

Absolutely don't feel silly for being admitted for a UTI! I understand if they're not treated they can potentially bring on preterm labour, so it was good that you were seen.

Sounds like you should be seing someone today, to be honest. You'd feel pretty silly not t,o have asked for help now if this does turn out to be early labour, no?

Call your midwife. They never mind being bothered. I called when I got an electric shock from my pony's field fence and was about 16 weeks. They didn't make me feel bad at all. :)

They are not so regular that i can time them.. Very intermittent. But definitely been having them throughout the day for the past few days! It wasn't so much the UTI i felt silly about, as at least i returned with antibiotics and it wasn't a wasted journey, more so that the hospital midwives made me feel kind of silly. For example i phoned up the other day as i had swelling and headaches, and the week before had a trace of protein in my urine so i was thinking the worst as those are some symptoms of P.E. But the midwife on the phone told me that they were just too busy to take my call but because i did in fact call they HAD to ask me to come up but to bear in mind i will be waiting ages and in her experience it sounds like there is nothing wrong with me at all so it is a pointless journey and wasting their time. She was such a bitch about the whole thing and i told her that i wouldn't bother coming up to which she said that she would put in my notes that i refused to come to hospital. (Covering her own back if there was actually something wrong i think) So since then i've tried to refrain from calling them(apposed to my usual calling them at the slightest thing). Going to keep an eye on things and if they continue to progress i will definitely be giving them a call! Thanks girls.

Oh the MW at the hospital sounds horrid, I'm really sorry you were treated like that Sad

You are completely within your rights, and in fact it is very sensible, to call them about anything causing you concern - you and your baby are the most important thing right now.

I hope you are seen by someone nicer if you have to go in again!

She definitely was! I know they are not all like that though and have had some very positive experiences with some. Thanks Tea i hope so too, will keep you all updated, hopefully i'm dilating and all these cramps aren't for nothing! Even though i know i could still be weeks away from the real dealSmile
