Have you had a vaginal delivery with a prolapse?

After giving birth to DD 15 months ago I developed a prolapse - its either an enterocele or a rectocele, possibly both (long story but have had difficulty getting accurate diagnosis)
I'm now pregnant again and very worried about how/if this will effect my next labour. A consultant at the hospital told me I was "probably low risk" and should be ok to have a normal delivery, however, he didn't examine me so now I've come away feeling unconvinced.
Main concerns are that the prolapse will obstruct the birth canal resulting in emergency C sect also, that the vaginal/rectal wall is already weakened so I'm really scared I'll develop a fistula. I don't even know if either of these situations are possible but I'm quite anxious now.
I have made an appointment with my GP for further advice, she specialises in gynaecology so I'm hoping she'll have some insight.
But in the meantime, has anyone here had experience of vaginal births with a prolapse?

Sorry, I am aware that this is really old but I wanted to respond just in case you read it. Obviously all experiences are different so I don't want mine to give you a false sense if optimism but mine was really positive. I have both a bladder and rectal prolapse following a ventous/episiotomy delivery with my DS. I was seen by physio through my pregnancy who advised a c section. However when I finally saw a urogynae specialist privately at 38 weeks (NHS consultant on honeymoon so wasn't available when I arrived for that appointment ) she advised a vaginal birth. She said to stay at home for as long as possible and try to avoid an epidural (if possible). To be frank her advice really annoyed me at the time. However I did stay at home for as long as possible. Got to the hospital and 9cm so no opportunity for an epidural. Advised the midwife that I didn't want docs involved unless either myself or the baby were in danger. I was extremely lucky and had a text book birth. Delivered my DD with a second degree tear but I recovered really quickly. My prolapse is no worse than before, strangely it feels less uncomfortable than previously. I am aware that it was pure luck that I had such a straightfoward delivery and that other women's stories of second births with an existing prolapse will differ, but for me it was an incredibly positive experience. Try to become as informed as possible about it all and reach a decision YOU are happy with it. If that decision is a c section then request it so they have to actively persuade you otherwise.

I had a homebirth with ds 7 weeks ago, having had a rectocele diagnosed in pregnancy, which had been caused by the birth of dd (also a home birth). It had got better after the first birth and I hadn't noticed it. The relaxing hormones of the 2nd pregnancy had caused it to become more noticeable. I saw a dr at the hospital at 30 weeks of pregnancy who said no problem for a straightforward vaginal birth so I booked my home birth. My birth plan said absolutely no intervention, for me it was either a hands off vaginal birth or a c-section. I thought augmentation, epidural, forceps or ventouse would all affect the prolapse for the worse, due to lack of control over pushing, etc. I wrote clearly on my birth plan that I fully understood the respective risks of all options and wished to proceed to a c section if anything was amiss.
In the end I had a spontaneous delivery of my 8.5lb boy in a birth pool in my kitchen, I didn't need to do any active pushing, my body did it all. I did have an urge to push from 6cm and used gas and air to breathe through this. After about an hour my waters popped and ds came out after about another 5 contractions, with the midwives helping me very slowly ease him out without a tear.
The prolapse was much worse initially, almost hanging out of my vagina on day 3 when I was constipated and therefore my rectum was full and there was pressure on the vaginal wall (sorry if tmi). After I'd managed to do a poo it all went back inside and has slowly got better to the point that now at 7weeks it is better than it was during the pregnancy. I can poo without any support to my perineum as long as I am not at all constipated. I have been referred for follow up to the gynae clinic and have an appt but haven't been yet, also my lovely mw referred me for physio. The only thing is that I haven't been comfortable carrying ds around in a sling because it feels like theres too much pressure on my pelvic floor and everything will fall out. Also he's a greedy one and has put on a lb a week so is just a bit too heavy for carrying around full stop.

Thank you both for your replies, great to hear nothing awful happened as a result of the existing prolapses. I have a GP appointment booked and am going to ask for a referral to see a consultant at another hospital (not where I'm giving birth as they are totally uninterested) and hopefully that will put my mind at rest as really don't want to spend the next few months worrying. I had my first son 3 n half years ago and I vaginal wall prolapsed and I am still prolapsed where I can see the as I call it a "pile" poking out . I'm on my 2nd pregnancy have 6 weeks left , now the midwife who delivered my son said next time to maybe have a c section , they wrote of to the consultant & the consular any replied back and looked at my notes and said a natrually birth would be fine. I'm worrying as they haven't even seen me or what it like. I just wanted to know how people got on with a natural birth with being prloapse dans if it made it any worse ?
