Im 37 + 3. Ive been having regular contractions since 5pm. They are 3 minutes apart now and getting stronger.

I've had a couple of shows too, but waters not broken.

Called hospital and they said to come in for examination - duly did. Baby engaged, she was able to touch his head so all heading in the right direction, but she said I'm barely 1cm and to go home and come back when I can't talk through contractions at all.

I can't believe all these contractions so close together have amounted to almost nada dilation wise.

Please tell me that this isn't going to just stop and amount to nothing? Has anyone else experience similar and seen it right through to a lovely bouncing baby?

Not slept a wink with contractions and just been sent home from hospital because not dialating at any speed. Long haul anyone? :(

You poor thing! Try and eat something at least, just to keep your energy up if you can't sleep.

Poor you! But keep active. It often starts slow, then speeds up. Good luck!

Hope things get moving soon for you. Try to get some rest and keep eating and drinking. If you can manage a bit of a walk, or bouncing on an exercise ball that might help speed things up a bit? Good luck! Ooh you might meet your baby tonight, how exciting!

Is this your first baby?I had similar with my first - hours on end of really painful contractions, all leading to not very much. as far as i remember it all started on a wednesday afternoon and no baby until Friday afternoon....not easy...

voscar · 31/07/2012 19:38

Yep - this is my first.

Still bloody at home, contractions far too painfull to sleep but no getting any worse to justify going back up to hospital. Couldn't cope if I went up again and they sent me back home! Gettin quite emotional now, 27 hours of it is a lot more than I (stupidly!) bargained for!!
