Consultant recommendations for Watford Knutsford Suite

Hi

I'm new to this site, found out I am pregnant last week so thought I'd join to see what everyone's talking about!

And now I'm trying to get organised. I am covered by BUPA for maternity (everything not just emergency - through DH's job) and I'd like to have the baby at Watford General hospital in the Knutsford Suite as that's closest to where we live in NW London.

I'm confused about how to go about choosing a consultant. There are half a dozen listed on the Watford hospital's website, but how do you pick one?

Has anyone got a recommendation for a consultant they used in Watford?

Thanks v much!

I am booked in with mr sanusi, having c section next week. If you ring his secretary she will get him to call you back and you can have a proper chat with him. I am really pleased with him so far, but can update after next week.

Hi, congrats on pregnancy. I am currently pregnant with second baby and I am under Mr Sherdian at Watford.

I had pregnancy diabetes with my 1st pregnancy and was put under his care aswell as doing ante natal classes with his midwife Sarah Denning. I have been put under his care again with this pregnancy due to them worrying if preg diabetes returns and honestly can not praise them enough. They have a website called 'the birth team' and give a lot of detail of the care you will be given under them. Mr Sherdian manner can be very much to the point but honestly a great consultant who I trust completely.

Hope this helps x

was under Sherdian for gynae, and although very abrupt was very good at what he did. Know some friends who he has delivered, and all speak highly of Sarah. Congrats x

I had both of mine under Mr Sheridan and Sarah. Like others have said, his manner can be a little odd but I always felt completely safe with him and Sarah is delightful. The best thing about using them is that you are guaranteed that Sarah, or her named cover, will be with you for the entire labour and delivery.

I am moving to Pinner, Harrow next month and am 17 weeks currently. I am covered by BUPA for normal pregnancy and obviously emergency. Since I don't even live in the area yet, am having a tough time identifying which hospital I want to go to.

The Watford general & Queen Charlotte's seem the closest private options.
Any recommendations or experiences anyone could share please?
Really appreciate! Thank you!

susan123 - Hope everything went well with you... Please do share your experience when you get a chance. :-)

Hi, I'm back with an update, and a gorgeous 4 day old girl! Mr sanusi and the theatre staff were fantastic, I would highly recommend him. However, we were not that impressed with the knutsford suite, and having previously been there 2 years ago and loved it, could not recommend it now. I went home early (2nd day post c section with 3rd child) as I felt as if the staff were too busy to help. The room was nice, food ok, but not great, but the suite was full and I felt like I was being an inconvenience asking for help. I kept being told that they were very busy and although someone always answered the buzzer, I was frequently left waiting for whatever I had buzzed for. I was given ver limited information on discharge, and have since found out tha the midwife didn't let the community midwife know about me, which has meant that after being home for 2 days I still haven't had a home visit, or any checks for my baby.

I think we were unlucky due to how busy the suite was, however I came away feeling like we had wasted our money, and very disappointed after such good car last time.

Hi Susan,

Many many congratulations on your lovely princess! :-)
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at the knutsford suite. No point paying money for private treatment if you get the feeling of being an inconvenience! The the community midwife stuff is worse than NHS :(
Hope it gets sorted for you quickly.
Thanks a bunch for your help. Definitely helps me decide against The Watford General hospital.

Take care!
