Placenta Previa - Experiences/advice needed

My bf has placenta previa and needs a c-section end of next week (at 38 weeks). She is understandably worried about the baby and herself (consultant has said may need a hysterectomy worse case scenario)and asked if I could canvass you lovely MN's for any advice/experiences or anything else you can think of.

Thanks in advance

i had this with first preg, but by 24weeks the placenta was clear of the cervix, so i got to labour(still ended in a c-section) however your friends placenta must be covering the cervix so its prob a bit more serious than most therefor they need to operate, bleeding is very common i think, i did lose 1.5litres of blood after my c-section, if the surgeon cannot stop beeding the last resort is a hysterectomy, you have to sign on the dotted line before the surgery and i remember reading the bit about hysterectomy. Your friend will be fine, surgeons do all in there power not to remove the womb.
