im going into the hospital this thursday ill be just shy of 40 weeks but im having a vbac, i think the consultant mentioned last time that if they could they would break my waters for me to get me started.. anyone had a vbac and had this done before 40 weeks? i know im only 1cm dialated (checked myself) so im not sure how far you have to be to have your waters broken.. im in so much pain now and so so fed up, my poor toddler is dememented with me not being able to get off the sofa at times so i really really need this baby out.
maybe if they cant break my waters they can give me a sweep?

im hopein i go into labour soon by myself, ive been having a lot of signs the past 2 days, babys dropped and ive been runnin back and forth to the loo for number two (sorry) constantly! and i have that crampy feeling each time i need to go.

if anyone can give me any feedback id much appreciate it, thanks xx

It is not a good idea to break your waters if things are not moving along, they place time limits on how long they let you try for natural birth after your waters go, due to risk of infection.

You could not be ready to go (some people stay 1cm for weeks before the birth) and end up with a CS.

Your baby might not be in the right position yet if waters break when they are too high and then failure to progress might end in EMCS.

A sweep could break your waters anyway, but could also get things moving along. Have you tried the usual sex, long walks, curry route?

thanks zhen. my midwifes wouldnt examine me so i decided to check myself. im a finger tip dialiated but my cervix is so so low. its practically at the entrance. what does that mean?
im hopein they do somethin because im just so done with this pregnancy. if im not favorable for waters breakin will they still do a sweep? and what if im not dialated enough for even that? :-(
ive tried everythin!but shes not budging.
does a sweep help things along? ive heard a lot of people telling me it did nothing for them and im getting really disheartened.
i cant do the long walks because of the pain. i get excruiting shooting pains down my legs and inside of thighs even just walking to the kitchen!x

agoodman i am feeling the same as you.

last wednesday i had a very brutal internal which resulted me going into labour and getting to 4cm then all stopped. was in hospital on sat again and got to 5 cm and they said head is still very high so thats why things arent progressing. im booked in on the 10th to be induced and was so hoping things would move along alot quicker than this and i wouldnt need to be induced.

have to see my consultant tomorrow and hoping they give me a good sweep or induce me sooner as the pains and ontractions im having are sending me crazy. on saturday i must have pooed 12 times so i defo thought it was a sign things were happening. no such luck

this is my 3rd baby and im so ready to be sitting getting cuddles :)
