Hi all
I'm a newbie here.
According to the midwife i was 1cm dilated last Weds when I went in for monitoring. She also said that the baby's heartbeat was a bit erratic and that the baby is back to back. I'm 37+1 at the mo (although going off our dates i'm 40+1)
Early Saturday morning I woke up at 3am having full on contractions- heavy breathing, couldn't speak, hubby had to rub my back. This went on for 2 hrs- every 10 mins, and then they stopped!
Yesterday i had 2 contractions and today i've had 3.
I lost my mucous plug last Monday and some more this morning. I have really bad back ache and sharp pains in my side. I'm starting to get really peeved about it all.
I've got 2 sons as well- aged 8 and 9 both were prem babies- and quick labours (start to finish within 7hrs)
Has anyone else had contractions that stop and start? Should I ring my midwife and tell her- I feel like i'm wasting their time!

I had the same thing. My ds was two weeks overdue though. I am utterly convinced that my body was ready to give birth but I didn't have anyone to look after my ds1. I had contractions every night for a week. My sister arrived from abroad and within 30 mins of her arriving, waters broke and baby was out in 2 hours. So have a think if there is anything worrying you. It might be that - if you can solve the problem, then your body will relax and let go
