Could it be that you have a fibroid? I have been warned that I am at increased risk due fibroid low in uterus (mind you I only found out seriousness by going to private consultant, sloppy NHS would have happily had me having a homebirth).

Also, I have been advised to have medically managed third stage i.e. with syntocinon 10 units in vein rather than syntometrine injection in muscle, directly after birth. Also, I will have a back up infusion (40 units syntocinon in 500 mls) ready in the room, all this so that if I have pph it can be stopped asap. So maybe you want to discuss various types of treatment in advance. From what I have been hearing from other women is that pph is probably happening a lot more than the statistics suggests, raises some issues about how these things are recorded. I also understand that if you had it in first pregnancy you are (slightly?) more likely to have it again. Don't want to scare you but in this day and age with appropriate care should not be a problem!

Conni - that is interesting!!!

I never thought it could be a fibroid.

Not sure how to go about it now, how could they find out if I have one?

Are there any symptoms?

I always thought fibroids cause you to have a swollen and hard tummy.

Pre both pregnancies I had a flat stomach and normal regular periods?.... (flat tummy please come back one day Wink)
