Co-codamol in early labour?

Does anyone know if this is ok? Am planning a water birth at my MLU but obviously don't want to go in until I really have to. Have a TENS machine but didn't use one in previous labour so not sure how useful it will be so am wanting to cover my bases wrt pain relief at home. Has anyone else used co-codamol?

Mw gave me co-codamol (and a sleeping tablet?? Like I could sleep through contractions?) when I was admitted at about 3cm dilated. Unfortunately I was immediately sick, so I couldn't say how effective it is!

I was sent home, took co-codamol as MW told me. Dont think it worked at all. I kept thinking next contraction won't be as bad, but they kept gettin worse. It was a really fast labour and my contractions were 5 mins apart when sent home, so may work in early labour with mild contractions. I never got those.
