confused about what happens next - waters broken and dilation question

morning... night before last contractions every 6 mins from 1am to 530 then nothing... last night 2am waters gone and contractions started about hour afterwards, quite bad but not unbearable, now again since about 6am I have had just a bit of quite gripping gripey pain but not like full on contractions.
Labour ward told me to ring midwife in morning, and they will come and see me, but if my waters have gone i don't want anything up there if you know what i mean, so how do they know (or i know) if I am dilated? any ideas?!! also if you could just tell me when i will have a baby that would be grand!!!!

When my waters went, they did a scan to check fluid levels first. They were borderline so speculum and a look at my cervix which I think is pretty standard. I'm not sure how they'd check for dilation otherwise.

I know my hospital were keen to induce 24 hours after waters were broken to prevent infection. I was given an appointment but DS arrived beforehand, which is pretty standard according to my midwife. Good luck!

hi gracie thanks for reply. i am 40 + 3 or something so don't think they will check my levels, just try and get it all moving in the right direction...

Hey surfmama how are Things going? hope you are well on the way to having your baby now.
I have heard midwives say keep the pads into which your waters have soaked, so that they can check its the waters and not urine. Might be a way for them to check without sticking anything up your foofoo. What happened in the end?
