Boring hospital bag question - towels

Packing the bag (38 weeks). I'm hoping to manage a small changing bag for delivery, with a suitcase in the car for DH to fetch later.

Towels (of the bath variety). Do I need to take them? If so, how many and will I need them in the first bag or will they provide me with some for the first shower? Or if I use a bath/ pool during labour?

Thanks.

Not sure about birthing pool but I definitely had one at least with me for after the birth. Mine were a stain disguising dark brown colour! For DD2 I had a bath in the room in which I delivered. For DD1 I had to use a bathroom on the ward and so having two towels was useful as I used one as a bath mat and to clean the floor of the (now profuse) bleeding. You may also want to wash your hair which would make a second towel useful.

Not sure about the birthing pool set up but I'd take my own for showers etc. Hosp gave me some scratchy, stringy thing the size of a hand towel. I took a lightweight dressing gown and 1 medium towel. Depends how much you like your creature comforts I guess?!!

Good luck with the birth!

Hospital towels are a) made of card/Emoryboard and b) will have seen a lot of action. Take your own but keep an eye on them. I took my own pillows too. [princess]

Don't know about the birthing pool, but I'd take my own towels for showers etc on the ward.

The hospital did have towels but they were tiny.

Take more than one, I used mine up when my waters broke before I got to the delivery suite. Then when I took a shower straight after my dd was born I remember trying to dry myself on a small paper towel.

Take dark towels. Maybe one for birthing pool and one or two for shower. A dark dressing gown is useful too. I borrowed a red one from my mum. Useful when rushing to the loo but actually walking very slowly (I had a cs!).

Thanks, I'll squeeze them in then. I've got some dark navy ones.
