Active baby before labour?

I woke up at 3 this morning, needing a wee. I went and found out I have had show ( didn't have one with dd)
Came back to bed, some period pains until about 5:30, now feels like BH ( or possibly more) but the baby is very active. Is s/ he just trying to get out ( mybe wishful thinking) or is this a good sign? I don't remember this with dd, but it was 6 years ago.

Thanks. It has been a slow day, very irregular contractions all day, but they have picked up in the last few hours. Think will be heading to the hospital in less than an hour....looking forward to getting this part over with.
