41 weeks - anyone else out there? In need of solidarity - first child came early!

Am 41 weeks today. Never thought I'd be overdue as DC1 came at 38 weeks.

Really keen to avoid induction, booked for next Friday - have a sweep booked for this Monday but not massively up for that either.

Have tried raspberry leaf tea, walking, curries, acupuncture (one session last week, next one booked for Monday), comedy films - and the other well-known home induction method!

How are others finding the long wait?!

I feel your pain.

Ds2 born last July came 12 days late. Luckily my contractions started naturally the evening before I was due to go in for induction.

I am of the opinion that nothing works. Baby comes when baby's ready. But I think that in hindsight Wink

At the time I was walking two miles a day ( yes-at 11 days overdue), eating two pineapples a day, the usual rl tea, hot curry etc

Enjoy your rest as the peace and quiet. Keep rested ready for the slog of labour.

Good luck!!

I am 41 weeks and 3 days and this is my first. I haven't been getting any pains at all which makes the induction process seem all the more likely some point next week. Really really hoping it doesn't come to that. I had a slight bit of pink spotting today, but so far this is the only sign i've had! Unbeliebable ofr this far along. I lost lots of mucus over past few weeks but no blood.
It's frustrating being overdue, i hear you! I feel in limbo. I can't get on with anything because I'm in 'waiting' mode, so so boring. At least at the weekend I have hubby to keep me company . It's the weeksdays when he's at work that are the worst. I'm in London and no family about so it's not even like I can go and hang out at my mums ( which is basically what my jammy sister did all the time, and both hers came 2 days early!) I have friends who I could see in the week but because of my overdue status, I just want o stay in the house and be on my own, despite being bored! it's a weird time...
I've been walking and having sex etc but doesn't seem to help! I even tried accupuncture!
Because of pink spotting I'm holding out hope that something will happen today :-) I think the main problem is the expectation that the ue date is one magical date. So you work towards it like the holy grail, and then afterwards it all feels like a big let down. Maybe they should give us dates at 41 weeks!

Hi boysboysboysandme and Lucietea - thanks for your words of encouragement! It is such an odd time. Probably agree the baby will come when it wants to but it's not being able to plan that is so frustrating - that and the heartburn!
I have just seen there is a 'time to evict baby' thread which seems to have some good advice (might be one for you, Lucietea?) - I guess the problem is that, although you try all those suggestions (curry, sex, rl tea, acupuncture, walking, etc.), if they don't work, you worry you're doing something wrong.
A few people have told me their labour started naturally the night before their induction - perhaps it does focus the mind/body!
Ah well, good luck, Lucietea - my thought today is that it's only a few days away now and such a small window in my life, compared to the joy of having a child - DS is now 3.5 years and gets better every day - it will be worth it! x
