VBAC with Twins on board!

Hello all,

I had my first baby through emergency C-section. Now I'm pregnant with twins and considering a VBAC delivery. It seems scary for single pregnancies - does anyone have any experience or advice on delivering twins naturally after c section?

Thanks!

You need Mary Cronk's twins guidelines.

I have a friend who did it so it is possible.

Hi Emma, I delivered my twin boys vaginally, but had a vaginal birth first time round too so I'm not much help. However, there is a lovely twins antenatal group if you want to come and have a whinge etc! It's Twins Club 4 (I think). You'll get loads of support!

I did it. Ds1 was emcs and I started pg with dts asking if I could vbac and all drs saying no too dangerous and trying to convince me I could only have an elcs. My recovery from cs was not good and it took me a long time to psyche myself up to doing it again. At 20 weeks (due to nhs cuts) the tune changed to "well you can try" and at 28 wks to we'll induce you by ARM. As well as the dts I'm also type 1 diabetic. If you search under my name you should find various posts about the decision and what I was told. They were born last august. I had them at 33+4 by vbac. On phone so this post is taking a long time. Any questions pls ask.

Questions to ask:

  1. What is policy if dt2 is breach?
  2. Monitoring?
  3. Success rate? Both of vbac and vb of twins
  4. Time allowed for 2nd stage for dt2?
  5. Delivery in operating theatre is standard?
  6. Policy on epidurals? Obligatory?
