2nd DC, what if it is big?

I'm in Australia. Ds was born in the UK (HB)
I had a mw appointment on Friday and she recommended a late scan to check the size as "your first was so big" - he was 9lb 7.
I've had a glucose test so know I'm not diabetic. What I forgot to ask her was what would happen if it is measuring big? I don't want to be induced or have a section so surely it's better to not know?!
Just wondering if anyone else had experience of this?

Nothing happens!

However, you might like to consider ensuring optimal birthing positions.

So no point having the scan then?Grin Think I'd rather not know!

I don't think 9 lb 7 is that big I have friends who've past the 10 lb mark! My dd1 was 7 10 born at 40 + 4 and dd2 7 2 born at 40 + 6 I have a friend whose dd1 was 9 6 and dd2 was 7 11 so second babies aren't always bigger! Also I know several peole who had growth scans and the results were way out one friend was told baby was approx 7 lbs he was born the next day at 10lb another two were measuring large at least 9 lb and their dcs were 7 12 and 8 lb?

I know someone who had an 11lber a few weeks ago with no time for anything but gas and air. Just as a positive story in case he/she is big!

Nothing happens. My second one was scanned for size.... He was predicted to be 10 lbs. No further action required apparently. He was 11 lb 4 oz....

DD2 was 10lb, far easier labour than 8lb 10oz DD1.

I am firmly of the opinion that bigger babies + gravity = quicker and easier! I have no proof but it is what I always answered back when told to expect a hulking great lump of baby!?!?!

I didn't think he was that big either, especially as he was long and thin (and still is) not chunky or chubby. I think I'll decline the scan, would have to pay for it anyway, and just wait and see....
