Should I be worrying about friend?

Best Friend was due to have her first baby last Thursday. Monday night her waters broke but no contractions. Went into hospital and wad told if she didn't go into labour naturally by 10 pm Tuesday they would induce her. Had a few texts yesterday morning...nothing starting and then silence. I obviously don't think I should be given a blow by blow account if what's happening but should there not be some news by now?

Don't know much about induction but have 2 dc...second one a slower labour. But surely if water went 2 days ago then baby must be nearly here. Going out of my mind fretting...am I being silly to worry?

Don't know about waters going but my induction took 48 hours from start to finish.

Thanks babyblabber. If you don't mind me asking, did it take a while to get going?

My second induction took me three days before labour even started :-/ so it can take a while for things to get going. I'm sure she will be in touch when she has some news for you

Thank you MrsPaynie - eek that is a long time! How it was a bit quicker once it got going? I know she'll be in touch, I was just feeling anxious as I expected the news already. Clearly may be a while yet.

Oh yes mine was a lot quicker once it got started! 1 hour 38 mins from first contraction to baby being born lol Grin hope you get some news soon.

Flisspaps · 23/05/2012 20:22

Was she definitely induced last night? She may have refused it or they may have suggested waiting a bit longer if there were no signs of infection etc. There may not have been a labour room free. Things may just be taking a while. Baby may be here and they might be enjoying some quiet family time before starting the round of calls and texts.

That sounds good MrsPaynie!

I really hope so fliss - that baby is here and they are enjoying! Just been in a lot of communication and then...I'm just fretting a time passes. I was just worried about time from water going. She seemed sure she wad going for induction, but they may have changed their mind...good point!

Bless you for worrying but I'm sure all is fine. My induction took 5 days and I went into complete media blackout. I couldn't cope with the questions and anyway was convinced that I wasn't having a baby, just a giant pork pie!

I'm sure she'll be in touch soon.

This happened to a friend of mine. She was induced on the Tuesday, and texted me when they started. Then silence until a text from her husband on Friday lunchtime! Long labour, huge baby.

thedevilisinthedetail · 23/05/2012 21:42

Thank you both! I know she'll be in touch when the baby arrives, I just had no idea about time line. My waters were one of the last thing to go with both babies and had to be broken with second labour so them going so early was worrying I thought. Thanks for the reassurance.

My friend ws taken in for induction at 12 days over, didn't get one until 5 days later as there were so many emergencies etc but she was continuously monitored throughout. Baby came in 4 hours in the end... 17 days after EDD!

thedevilisinthedetail · 24/05/2012 19:27

Thanks for the reassurance! Still jumping every time the phone goes though...
