Period-like pain after 37 weeks on second baby, coming and going.. a sign or not at all?

Last time, my waters went at 40+11 and was induced at 40+12 as contractions didn't start.

I had about two weeks of "niggles" before this, cramping and on off pains/contractions sometimes regularising and then tapering off.

Am 37+2 now on dc2 and over the last few days I've had several bouts of what I would consider moderately uncomfortable period-like pain, lasting a few minutes. Would say I've had that about three times today.

I know you can dilate a lot earlier on a second long before labour proper begins so is this what this is? I have a major interview a week from today (hence name!) and while I certainly don't feel on "the brink" I'm aware things might move faster this time, as last time babe was back to back and now apparently in right position.

Just wondering what others expereinces have been.

I'm 38 weeks and feeling the same sort of thing - I honestly can't remember if I had the same first time round though! I did have a few hours of it followed by a show, so I'm going on the premise that there would be a bit of a show if anything was happening.

I hope you get through the interview okay!

38 weeks and have had same and also can't remember from last time-think in the week before the birth I gad them, these I have already had a week or so.

Well I'm 37 weeks tomorrow with my second and was experiencing crampy pains on and off yesterday and I've arranged to have my bathroom refitted next week so I must be mental too. I shall think of you delivering during your interview as the plumbers deliver my baby!

I had this 'period-like' pain with DS1 (second baby) around my due date and it turned quite quickly into labour - I thought it was just things getting going but before I knew it (e.g., in about 4 hours) I was fully dilated. My period pain-type things quickly became regular tho, so I did have an inkling. If your pains become regular, don't hang around - you might be surprised by how much quickly a second labour progresses, and also how much less intense it is than with first baby.

Good luck for the interview though, hope you make it :)
