Anyone Given Birth in Calderdale Royal Infirmary?

Hi,
Am on the last two weeks and am wondering if anyone has given birth at the Calderdale Royal, and if so, what was it like?
There seems to be a massive difference in maternity care in hospitals around the country so am keen to hear what this one is like from those with 'experience'.
Thank you!

Sorry no baby but just wondered if you'd tried posting in MN local? Hopefully, this will bump for you though Smile.

lots of my NCT group did.... I could have... but i chose a home birth

I was a patient on one of the pregnant wards when i was pg with HG.... i was NOT impressed with the complete lack of care (I was admitted with dehydration yet it was over 8 hours before i was given a drink of water, and it took 4 hours for me to get IV fluids and i never even got a wrist band with my name on) so after that i vowed to not go there at all if i could help it.

Hi babysaurus. I had my ds at calderdale as i wanted an epidural and also because i am overweight so classed as "at risk", no idea of risk of what though.

Anyway, i was induced at 40 + 3 as the last scan i had at huddersfield they couldn't decide if he was big or not, it turned out that he was of normal weight but i had a reservoir of water, lol.

I was started off at noon with a pesserie and as that did not kick start labour i was put on a drip and from then i was constantly monitored and looked after until i left 4 days later. Unfortunately i had t have an emergency c section as he got stuck, but i can honestly say i was really looked after and was sooo glad i was there. Even the after care was fab, i was waited on and checked, even the surgeons n his team came t see me.

If i'd have been at huddersfield i would have had t be blue lighted t calderdale.

If i had another child i would not hesitate t make calderdale my first choice. Xx

Thanks Nicki, that's good to hear. You hear so much about how maternity care can vary over the country that it seems almost pot luck at times! Hopefully I will have as good an experience (fingers crossed!)
