How can I help my EMCS scar heal?

Hi there,
I had an EMCS 10 days ago and I am worried about how my scar will heal already. I hadn't expected to have a c-section and so I hadn't anticipated how to deal with the aftermath at all. I generally tend to scar quite obviously, being very pale, and wonder if anyone has any good tips? My midwife just recommends bathing in lavender oil and water. I have seen a Lilypadz c section scar healing product in the JoJo Maman Bebe catalogue but it is 35 pounds, which seems an awful lot, so I'm wondering whether anyone has used this or heard of anyone using it and whether it is worth it, or if anyone has any other advise/c-section healing tips in general? Any advise gratefully received, thank you :)

Let the air get to it.

Apply time.

I'm v pale and have had 2x emcs, the most recent 8 months ago. You can barely see the scar.

Sorry to sounds probing, but have you given the hair a chance to grow over the incision site yet? I have had two EMCS (last one 2 1/2 weeks ago), and already the hair is growing back over the site. After my first EMCS, I couldn't see the scar at all after a while, as the hair covered it (I am very pale too, with dark hair).

Silicone pads or gel? I think a pad/sheet rather than a gel for a C-section scar. Used after cosmetic surgery to heal with minimum scarring. Proven to work but again quite expensive.

Ah just googled the Lilypadz product - I see it is a silicone sheet. I think you should get that - yes £35 but for what it is going to do for you? Worth it I think, if you can afford it. Be aware though that you can get silicone sheets for other manufacturers - have a google, you might find something similar a bit cheaper.

I got ScarSil gel on prescription for my scar. The obstetrician I asked about scar healing said there was no difference between a gel and a pad. It's worked well, and it's free! Just wander around naked for a bit after your shower to let the gel dry.

Thanks ladies for all your suggestions. Ghislaine I will enquire about a prescription, otherwise I will go for the silicone sheet as you say Wildstrawberryplace it is surely money well spent. Thank you for your advice HappyAsEyeAm they didn't even shave the hair (although I had trimmed, but not expecting an EMCS, not shaved) so I understand what you mean, but it is pretty noticeable, although early days I suppose.

EMCS 2 and a half years ago, I literally cannot see where it was. Don't worry.
