Uterus and pregnancy weight

Hi all, it's 7 weeks after my c section and my uterus hasn't completely gone back to normal yet (I still look about 2 months pregnant and my uterus looks like a ball, and feels quite hard to the touch). I thought it would have disappeared by now? I've also been eating well and doing light exercise every day but the scales literally haven't shifted a pound in 3 weeks! Is there's hormonal reason that my body is trying to hold on to this fat? And is there any supplement etc that I can take to help things along (re: uterus shrinking?)-I stopped breastfeeding at 4 weeks (long story but medical reasons), which is probably not helping the shrinkage situation...would be grateful of any advice!

Raspberry leaf tea is meant to help shrink your uterus back down, so maybe try drinking this? I wouldn't be too worried about losing weight yet, I found I retained a lot of water for about 3 months after the birth so for me I didn't lose weight for ages! If you are concerned or in any pain, see your GP as there may be some placenta retained or infection and that's why your uterus isn't shrinking back down.

Thanks Rockchick, i'm seeing the doc later this week so will ask him then - and will also get hold of some raspberry tea (-:

My belly took ages to reduce back down to looking non-pregnant after my CS. I went to the doctors at about 8 weeks to ask and she said she expected it to be about 16 weeks before the whole lot settled down properly.

That is interesting Soozle & reassuring, too-did your tummy go back to normal around the time the doctor indicated? Thanks for your advice!

Hi all, I'm reading this thread with interest as I had an ELCS almost 4 weeks ago and, although my tummy has gone down considerably, I have a hard ridge/lump above the right-hand side of my scar. I suspect that this might be a haematoma as it took longer than normal for my blood to clot, but I am hoping that the lump an hardness isn't permanent!

Nice to have some idea how long it might take for things to settle down :)

Hi lunarlyte, I'll post whatever feedback I get from my doctors appointment this Friday as he will hopefully have some interesting info to pass along re: recovery times, etc...
