Hi,
I am trying to find out if there are any side affects or complications with the vitamin K injection. Does anyone know?
Thanks

Hello, from what I was told from my OB, there are no known side effects to the vit K injection. I believe it was once thought that there was a link between it and childhood leukaemia, however, this link has since been discredited and vit K actually saves the lives of babies who are deficient and therefore need it to help their blood to clot.

I had read that about leukaemia, I just wondered if there were any side affects that were proven. thanks for your reply.

Babies aren't deficient.

The trouble is that the WAY we birth out babies now puts them at risk of bleeding, so vit k can help counteract that.

If you have a straightforward easy birth, vit k is largely unnecessary.

There are questions WHY babies are born with low levels, particularly given that ALL babies are so why is it considered 'low' and not simply 'normal' and there are many who believe that mother nature is clever enough to have. Good reason.
