Post birth bleeding

I had my second son, who was sadly stillborn, at 35 weeks on 22 April. It was a vbac, so I don't have a previous "birth" as such to compare it to. With DS1 I bled for about 3/4 days then spotted for about a week. My period came back fairly regularly, about 28/30 days after the birth.

My bleeding post-labour with DS2 seemed to stop after about a week - I just had some minor spotting. This went on for about a week. Now, since last Wednesday I've been bleeding more and it's red blood, not brown blood. It almost seems like a period. Is this normal? I'm desperate for my period to come back asap, as we want to try for another baby, but I'm concerned that the longer the bleeding goes on the longer it will take for my period to return. I just wondered if anyone had any advice, as I don't see my doctor for another 2 weeks.... Thanks!

Really sorry for your loss Amy
I had a redevelopment of bleeding after it been pretty light for a week or two. I didn't even know it could be a problem, didn't feel ill or anything, but it was suggested by friend I went to GP and it turned out I had a post partum infection for which I had to take some pretty heavy duty antibiotics.
This might not be the case for you of course, but might be worth checking out?

Sorry for your loss

Afaik any fresh red blood after the main bleeding has stopped should be checked out if it happens within 6wks of the birth so I'd recommend that you see a dr today just in case you have an infection.
