Does everyone have a show?

Does everyone have a show before they go into labour? I'm 40 weeks today with my second, and woke this morning with dull period like pains and have been having Brixton hicks all day but just wondering whether this could be the start of things or whether I would have had a show first?

I didn't have one with either of my babies!

debka · 06/05/2012 21:31

I don't remember having a show, but I was induced with both.

franke · 06/05/2012 21:33

It's probably the start of things Smile but may still take a little while. I had a show with dcs1 and 3 but don't remember a show with dc2. I don't think it's that significant tbh. Look after yourself, get plenty of rest and good luck!

Nope. Two children, never had a show. Both spontaneous labours (although first was augmented for slow progress).

Billy11 · 07/05/2012 00:26

ItWasThePenguins · 07/05/2012 00:44

No show here with any of my previous 3.
Waters all broken by midwives too.

Good luck x

No show with DC1-3.
With DC4 on the morning before the evening that labour started, I had a pinkish tinge on wiping. Wiped again and nothing. No obvious mucous plug either but did evening primrose oil with last 2 so would not have been able to tell.

Groovee · 07/05/2012 09:07

I didn't have one with either child

susiegrapevine · 07/05/2012 13:23

Not that I noticed but waters spotanously broke while I was sleeping. Woke me up!!

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 07/05/2012 13:26

No I didn't

DerbysKangaskhan · 07/05/2012 13:37

I've had four kids, and I had what I guess were tiny bits of the plug when my waters went with my second, and a lot of mucus for me when I went to the loo in early hours of labour with my 4th. I've not had anything like the bloody show that's described in books in any of my births.
