Possibly pregnant again 7 months after c-section

Oh dear, I was more responsible when I was a teenager!

Anyway. My consultant advised me to wait 2 years between pregnancies - oops. Assuming that I get a bfp, do I just go through the normal booking in procedures, or do I need to see a consultant early on? All the midwife appts are community based round here, even if I end up under consultant care...

You'd have thought I would have planned this better, wouldn't you?

I got pregnant 13 weeks after a csection (yes I do mean weeks) and it all just booked in as normal. You have an extra appointment with a consultant at 20 something weeks to discuss your birth options. As far as I can remember that was the only difference.

It depends on the reason you had a csection but I ended up having a vbac so that is still possible too if you wanted that option.

Good luck (I look forward to the panicky thread about coping with two little ones Grin)

Thank you, that's reassuring. I now have my head firmly stuck in a bucket of sand about the possibility of a second dc this soon!

I had a section because I was 2 weeks overdue and 12 hrs on the drip did diddly squat to dilate me. But recovery was fabulous and so I'd be keen for another section (but at 40+10 rather than the trust's standard 39 weeks).

A woman I know had 3 sections with only 13 months between each of them. Haven't spoken to her about the specifics, but all seems well and her DCs are lovely and healthy.

I had a woman (well teenager) who conceived 5 weeks after cs??went on to successful vbac.

One if my friends had her 2nd DS by section a year to day that she had her 1st and another one only had 15 months between them they were both fine Smile

My sister hasn't left 2 years between any of her 5 pregnancies, and the first four ended in CS (no 5 due August, will be CS as well). She hasn't had any problems from repeat and close pregnancy after CS if that can reassure you at all. You will probably be viewed as a high-risk pregnancy however.

I got pregnant 9 months after an emcs. Never saw anyone other than community mw, and no more often than with first pregnancy. Hoped for a vbac but ended in another cs. So much for child-bearing hips [sceptical] Sad

I didn't recover as well though. Had an infected wound which wouldn't heal and now have a dodgy hip which I'd had with first and thought was fine. Came back around 20 weeks in second pg and now dd is 10+ months it's as bad as ever! I am old 37 though. I am also the size of a house. Had lost 5 stone ttc ds and now it's all gone back on. Vvvvv Sad

I had twins 15 months after my first - both by c-sec.

HybridTheory · 08/05/2012 20:04

15 months between mine - both ELCS.

Thank you all, still on the 2WW but if it happens then it's good to know it's business as usual in terms of appointments.
