had a few tests at hospital when 37+4 and MW said my cervix is softening & is "ripe".... I'm also contracting every 5mins ish (bh's still though) but they're very tight. 2nd baby... she doesnt think i'll reach 40weeks. what do you think?

So.... Have you had your baby yet? I'm in the same position as you were. Grin

ooohh.... i was hoping for a birth story!!!

im 38 weeks today, with my 3rd DC (but DC1 was an emcs so this is really going to be my second labour).
i was 2 cm dilated on saturday with a ripe cervix..... had a show on saturday and again on monday... no contractions or BH though.
how long could it be?!!!

Littlerayofsunshine · 09/05/2012 13:43

Oh really?! My cervix was "ripe" last Thursday, but not dilated. Very strong BH's all the time, every 5 mins etc. but not the real thing yet.

MW today said that i'm still 3/5ths engaged, and just to wait for them to go to the real thing from BH's now....

Its odd because with my DD i had all these symptoms like a week/a few days before I had her. where as this time its been happening for over a week now and ZILCH! i only had her 18mots ago too so I thought i'd go earlier! (she was 40+5! )

lol! DS2 was born at 40+6... had a show at 40 weeks then i had contractions for 6 awful days before i couldnt stand it and went to the hospital (and then gave birth in 4 hours)

i am assuming that this time around my body knows how to do it, so i wont have to go through 6 days of increasingly painful contractions...

we cant be that far away to give birth, can we? Hmm

I am in the same position! It hurts and I couldn't sleep properly last night, not looking forward to tonight.

tostaky · 09/05/2012 20:16

Tanyah - are you having contractions or bracton hicks?
Good luck to you!!!Smile

Tanyaaah · 09/05/2012 21:18

I don't know but they hurt! Just happen when I relax and try and sleep annoyingly. Got the parecetamol ready for tonight.
2nd baby and this is how it started last time, so I reckon v. early labour, could go on all week!

Tanyaaah · 09/05/2012 21:18

Good luck to you all too.

I think mine are still braxtons, But I also keep getting pains when baby is moving about, like shooting pains up through my backside, and just overall that area.

its really bizzare. its like when its pushing its head in/down. more so when i;m sitting upright too. or driving.

the past 2 nights, I have managed to sleep a little bit better actually, but keep finding myself laid on my back then very stiff from it. :s

I have read somewhere that false labour pain were in the lower abdominal area an true labour pain were in the high admominal area....
I can't remember how it felt withDs2 though...
But no pain at all for me.... Sad
I'm going to ask for a sweep next Thursday (39+1)....

How was your night sunshine and tanyah?

Tanyaaah · 10/05/2012 08:09

Yes, it feels like the baby's head pushing down in my pelvis when I stand too long, driving really brings it on, so does laughing!
Slept ok last night, no agonising hip pain.

tostaky · 10/05/2012 10:42

Just had my routine appt and baby is 4/5th engaged... Come on baby!!!!

Littlerayofsunshine · 10/05/2012 13:49

I keep having a pain where it feels like my pubic bone is going to split :s
lots of strong BH's still, slight increase in discharge (i think?) and just feeling very low...

I think i will be having a sweep next Weds (39+2)

DP is on duty too... it did work well with DS2. Let's hope this baby gets the message too!

I'm going to take the tube today... Let's hope all the vibrations gets things moving (but only on my way home please!)

and ifyou type "acupressure labour" on youtube, there are lots of videos to show you how to DIY... might be worth a try

Failing that there is always pineapple!!!!
