Birthing centre 30 mins away or hospital 10 mins away?

This will be DC2. DS was born in a birthing centre but we lived in a totally different part of the country then.

Options here are the Royal Cornwall (Treliske) or St Austell birthing centre. Quite fancy the birthing centre as I had DS in one and liked the atmosphere. A little apprehensive of a hospital birth I must admit. However the hospital is a lot closer....

Thoughts??

Have you thought about a homebirth? Then you could have the nice atmosphere with the option of being transferred to hospital if you needed it. Or you could go for the hospital and just stay home as long as you dared.

I was booked in a birth centre with DD1 but ended up in a normal delivery room due to staff shortages. It was OK though, it was still just MWs and I wasn't hooked up to any machines or anything. It wasn't as comfortable and there weren't any birthing balls etc but I wasn't in a position to use them by that point anyway (too knackered)

I'm planning on giving birth at a birthing unit 1.5 hours away, even though I coukd walk to local hospital.
