Periods after an emergency section

Hi ladies

Hope you are able to offer me some reassurance.

I had an emergency section in February, bled (lochia) for about 8 weeks, had a week off and have been on my period for the past 3 weeks. It's not mega heavy but enough to be annoying.

I saw my nurse just before my period started who put me back on the pill (mycrogynon). I'm now on the 7 day break, when wil this period stop?

Is it normal to be on for so long? I dont want to waste the Nurse or Doctors time if it is normal.

Thanks

Go to see your GP: they might be able to give you something to settle your periods down. Also continuous bleeding is a possibly side effect of the pill, even if you have been on this one before your sensitivity to the hormones might have changed.

My periods didn't come back for 16 months after my section - however, when I started taking microgynon (a long time ago and very much pre pregnancies!) I bled for a month non-stop. Maybe it's the pill. Even if you were on the same one before, pregnancy can really affect your hormones.

I had this, saw the Doc who did lots of blood tests just to check. In the end it settled down after almost a year. Do make a Doctor's appointment just to see.
