Hi

I have my birth options appt tomorrow and still not sure which way I want birth no2 to go. If I have any choice at all!

With DS1 I planned a home birth with birthing pool and as little intervention as possible. Obviously I got the opposite - waters broke early, induced after 72 hours with pessary. Didnt work so induced with drip at 4am the next morning (thanks for letting me and DH have no sleep guys!!). Epidural at about 12pm as I heard a consultant when I was mid agony with a contraction say - oh shes got at least another 4 hours to go). Gave up at that point (pain control wise).
Finally dilated enough by 8pm - told to push by new on shift male midwife/obs. felt like I was expected to push out my lungs as DS was not intending to move at any point.
After a threat of forceps I was given an EMCS at 10pm. Took ages for them to give me enough anaeasthetic to not feel anything. After DS born (cried out immediately - the best bit x) he was put on me. Had about 3 lovely minutes with him and DH until they started twisting my ovary back - as twisted and were removing a cyst. I felt so much pain, I had to scream at DH to tell them to stop , DH got DS off me and they gave me a general asap. So all in all not the experience I had planned. DS was also 10lb 1.5oz.

SO - If i try for VBAC this time am I kidding myself? I am worried about A big baby and shoulder dystocia (i did watch the OBEM episode). I refuse any induction method of any sort. I refuse forceps or ventouse. I have suffered from some incontinence this pregnancy which I dont want to make any worse.
The thought of stirrups petrify me - lack of control. They scare me so much.
The amount of potential intervention - this took a long time to get over. I felt violated by the end of it all.

I would like a natural birth if I thought it was possible but I just dont know. Me in a pool with DH and some music - fine. But I just see myself ending up on the table.

Should I just cut out the worry and request and ELCS.

Sorry if a ramble.
Last visit I had with the Obstetrician he did mention something about could try a drip for a short amount of time but I dont want this. And I dont want to be bullied into it either.

What is expected of me at the appt tomorrow?

Rocket I had a similar experience to you, EMCS with DS1 and when I pregnant for the second time I wanted a homebirth. When I met the obstetrician they were not supportive (risk of rupture) and encouraged me to have a hospital birth.

I did lots of internet research and decided that I'd go for homebirth and transfer to hospital if needed.

I did need to transfer to hospital and they took things vv carefully and slowly because of previous EMCS. A tiny bit of syntocin, lots of monitoring and DS2 was born after only 30 mins of pushing.

I didn't have a large baby so didn't need to factor that in, do you have any indications of baby size this time around?
