Gave birth 12 weeks ago and got my first period 9 or 10 days ago, it started off light with old looking bloody but after 4 days got heavy and bright red now it's soaking a pad in a few hours and i started getting small clots with slight cramps for the last few days. I just went to the loo and had a big clot about palm sized it was rubbery and looked similar to the mucus plug is this normal? It seems to just be getting heavier and heavier

It doesn't sound normal to me. My periods just came back the same as before pregnancy, maybe a little lighter for the first one. I think you should see a doctor just to check.

I would say ring postnatal ward rather than NHL direct and ask a midwife.

I am almost 12weeks postnatal. I have just finished my first period but no heavier than before.

If you pass clots that size whether you've just had a baby or not you should always get checked out. If you blood loss is notably getting heavier by the hour I'd would goto a and e as you could be haemorrhaging.

I don't want to scare you but you must get this checked at least ring someone tonight.

My periods came back lighter with each birth. I would ring postnatal ward or govto A&e. Nhs Direct will send you to A&e anyway.

That's not normal . Get checked out as soon as you can .

Have you been using contraception ? Sorry to ask ...just sounds a bit like a very early mc .

Hope your ok .

Doesn't sound normal no. My first periods after the children were very heavy, but that was the only difference from normal. No unusual clotting or anything. I'd get it checked out.
