How far away are you? the rule when I had mine was when they got to every 3 mins lasting 30 secs to 1 min. How exciting! Good luck.

I would. They'll be able to tell by the sound of your voice if its time to go in! Good luck!!

i'd describe pains as pressure pains if that helps

Oooo how exciting! Yes give them a ring, but if you are ok at home, I would stay put for a little while. It could be a long time yet and hospitals are very boring

Our hospital says phone if they are regularly 5 mins apart and very painful.

Yes ring. My waters didn't break at all until dd actually came out.

So long as you feel the movements from the baby you can stay at home as long as you like.
I was told to go in because i said i couldnt feel movements - all was fine and i just think the strength of contractions don't really allow you to feel anything else!

How exciting for you, hope it all happens nice and quick

This is how my labour started. I didn't have a show with either of my DSs.

2.5 hours after I posted on here to say I was going into hospital, I had DS2 - looking forward to reading your birth announcement! Good luck!

I hope this is it! Do, do phone.

But, if this is your second or more - i think you are 'naturally' around 2cm dilated after having one baby - I only found this out after having two false alarms with ds2.

Also, I found that I could have quite intense and regular pains with my false alarms, to the extent that I got admitted and was confirmed to be in active labour - but everything stopped and didn't start again for 12 hours. I know there are women who have a few small twinges and then out pops baby, but for most of us, pains have to be quite intense and sort of 'take you over'...

And waters might not break until quite late in the day (at transition at least I think - can't quite rem with ds2)

But do phone, and good luck.

my pain was very intense and definately took me over. M/w thought I was a drama queen. DS born 1.5 hrs after arriving.

I was a small (well, strongish) twinges then out pops baby person - midwives didn't believe I was in proper labour when I rang them, nor when I arrived at hospital!

Me neither HM. God we're not filling the poor girl with much faith in M\w's here are we? Good luck cuffy, hope this is it for you.

LOL! They were great other than that though - I soon convinced them it was the real thing (largely by producing a baby...!)

Really excited for you, Cuffy - is incredible how quickly it all goes, honestly. Seems like yesterday I was in labour with DS2 and it was really three weeks ago!
