I gave birth just over 4 months ago. I have had bad wind, loose stools, and a generally dodgy tummy ever since. Has anyone else? CAn anyone help?

Hi,
Did you get antibiotics during or after the birth as they could upset the bowels by nuking the "good" bacteria? Probiotics could help.

I'm the same Badger dd is 20 weeks. I did have 3 lots of antibiotics 1 during birth (strep b) and 2 after - but have found probiotics did not help. Have seen doctor this Monday and I'm taking a drug before meals for irratable bowel syndrome.

I had bad wind for a few months after childbirth, but everything else was OK. Definitely go to your doctor to get this checked out. If you're not doing your pelvic floor exercises, doing them might help, especially with the wind.

I had a problem to as I was on antiboiotics during and after the birth and like picnikel said I was advised to take probiotics like in the 'live' yoghurts or the yoghurt type drinks like actimel. My stomach sorted itself out luckily but it might be a good idea to see a doctor as things do get a bit crashed during pregnancy and childbirth.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi @badger2005 did it end up resolving in the end? Having same issue

badger2005 · 02/09/2021 07:32

Hi Endoftunnel - I guess so, as I've kind of forgotten about this (years later!). But I don't remember any point where things resolved and went back to normal, so it might just be that I've gradually adjusted to a new normal...
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thank you @badger2005, do you still have dodgy tummy etc as listed in your original post or all this has gone away?
